About HomeSec Business Finance

The private lending experts. Lending our own money since 2004.

HomeSec Business Finance is a private business lender, lending since 2004, with its New Zealand office at 152 Fanshawe Street, Auckland. We fund the majority of our loans from our own balance sheet — and on some, we invite a small group of wholesale investors to co-fund alongside us.

An introduction from the CEO

“It works week after week, month after month, year after year — as it has since 2004.”

My name is Paul Stone. I'm the Joint CEO and founder of HomeSec Business Finance. Jason Brockmuller, our other Joint CEO, and I are proud of the reputation and the lending track record we've built — and we're both still involved in the decision on every loan we fund.

Investing with us is simple on purpose. You choose which loans to fund. We do the due diligence on every application and put it together in a pack for you to assess yourself. If you like a loan, we prepare the loan agreement in your name, the borrower signs with their own lawyer, and the mortgage is registered with you on it before the loan settles.

You are not left wondering how things work, and your return on investment — or the security of your funds — isn't dependent on a whole heap of things going exactly right. That's the point.

We also put our own money into every loan we offer to investors. If we wouldn't lend our own capital on it, we won't ask you to.

What makes us different

Experience you can't shortcut.

New Zealand-wide lending from Auckland

From our Auckland office we lend right across New Zealand, in the cities and the regions. We know which properties sell, and we don't take unnecessary risks on unusual properties or ones that would be slow to sell.

Straightforward loans only

Business loans of typically 1 to 12 months, up to NZ$1 million, secured by registered first and second mortgages. A maximum 80% LVR on residential, lower on commercial. No construction. No development.

Our money in every deal

Most of our lending is funded from our own balance sheet. When we invite co-funders, our capital sits in the same loan, on the same mortgage, as theirs.

A 50-point due diligence checklist

Every loan is assessed against it before it's approved — let alone offered to an investor. Both joint CEOs are involved in every decision.

A clear legal process, and specialist lawyers

Every mortgage is registered on the title and enforceable through the New Zealand courts. If a borrower defaults, the Property Law Act 2007 sets out the mortgagee sale process, and we manage it with specialist lawyers.

Part of a group lending since 2004

HomeSec Business Finance was founded in 2004 and today lends in Australia and New Zealand. The same leadership and the same lending discipline sit behind every loan, on both sides of the Tasman.
